Trainer Bios

Rich Robinson


As a Strength and Conditioning Coach, Rich Robinson’s goal is to mold enthusiastic athletes that strive to compete with relentlessness, toughness, and intelligence. While implementing the latest in sports performance and functional training, Coach Robinson empowers athletes during their journey of self improvement by prioritizing character development, injury prevention, and performance enhancement.

As a former NCAA Division 1 Athlete, Coach Robinson’s younger years set the foundation for his positive outlook and relentless drive. He credits much of his success to his father, a former Track and Field Coach at Princeton University and a US National Decathlete Champion. As a high school athlete at St. Joseph’s in Montvale, Coach Robinson was a Varsity Lacrosse Player and Varsity Track and Field Athlete, specializing in the high jump. His success in the high jump earned him multiple State Championships and the prestigious title of Penn Relays Champion. Upon graduation, he attend Boston College training as a decathlete before transferring to Villanova University to train under USA Olympian, Irving “Moon” Mondschien.

Coach Robinson currently coaches Varsity Lacrosse at Bergen Catholic High School where he also serves as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. During the high school off season, Coach Robinson coaches the National Club Lacrosse Team, NJ Riot, while also infusing a rigorous strength and conditioning program for the highly recruited club lacrosse athletes. Coach Robinson continues to create specialized strength programs for his D1 D2 and D3 collegiate athletes during their off seasons. For the 2019-2020 season,
his athletes are competing in such schools as Yale, Harvard, UPenn, Lehigh, Bucknell, St. Joseph’s PA, Lafayette, Holy Cross, Mount Saint Mary’s, Manhattan College, and Providence College.

Kenta Umezaki

“My passion as a specialist is to help clients reach their maximum potential in regards to their individual goals. Whether it is an athlete achieving their fullest potential on the field or court, an older adult regaining mobility and stability, or an individual looking to lose weight and gain strength, the spectrum varies and keeps me excited to help others as a professional.”

Degrees: Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology/Exercise Science SUNY Cortland 2015

Currently pursuing his Registered Nursing degrees at Rockland Community College

Previous training experiences include:

Athletes of all levels, focusing on enhancing speed, strength, mobility, stability, agility, body position.

Individuals with dementia (Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s).

Physical rehabilitation training

3 year experience in corporate health and wellness, focusing on ergonomics for corporate employees.

Kenta earned All League and All County Honors in football, wrestling, and baseball as captain of his high school teams.. After High School he attended SUNY Cortland and competed on the varsity football and wrestling teams. After graduating, Kenta went back to school for nursing while working as a fitness and sports performance coach. Kenta also has experience working with special populations, such as individuals with Parkinsons Disease, stroke related paralysis, and sports specific injuries. Kenta’s wealth of knowledge
and his passion for helping others make him a valuable asset in our mission at The Anvil to help people reach their goals and live a strong, happy, and healthy life

Orion J Woodard

Orion currently works with Special Needs students at the Windsor School in Pompton Lakes. OJ has 7 school records in track and field, and 3 state championships in football, one as a player and two after returning to his alma mater as a coach. His standout performance at Pompton Lakes High School earned him a full scholarship to the University of Cincinnati where he played receiver as part of 4 big east championship football teams and 1 big east champion track team. After graduating with a criminal justice degree, he continued playing football for the Arena teams Texas Revolution, Sussex Stags, and Newark Spartans. He comes to the Anvil with 6 years experience successfully training athletes in sports performance.

Jon Piela

Jon excelled in every sport he played, receiving Regional, State, and National honors in baseball, wrestling (4x State Champion, 3rd at Nationals), football, and karate in his youth. His success continued at Bergen Catholic where he earned All League, All County, All Suburban and 5 team state championships in wrestling and football. Jon went on to captain the Fordham University football team and is a Bergen Catholic Hall of Fame inductee. After college, he coached for Ridgefield Wrestling, Fair Lawn Football and Wrestling, Bergen Catholic Football, and currently Paramus Catholic Wrestling. He continues to stay active competing in crossfit events and mud runs. His exceptional coaching experience, desire to help others, and dedication to athletics make him an effective, adaptable fitness and performance professional.
